Serendipity and Gratitude.
Today marks a significant milestone in my life, and I am filled with immense gratitude towards Glen Clova Hotel for their unwavering support. Their assistance has been instrumental in launching the Scottish School Tour, boosting my confidence in engaging with others, and providing the essential fuel card that makes it all possible. Thanks to their generosity, countless young people across the country will benefit from talks on eating disorders, mental health well-being, self-esteem, and self-awareness.
As I drove up to the hotel today, a flood of memories from my early recovery days came rushing back. During those times, I was desperately trying to understand my worth, value, and place in the world. Hill walking became a crucial part of my journey, and Glen Clova was the very first hill I managed to climb. It transformed my life, helping me realise my capabilities and showing me how magnificent the outdoors is. It gave me access to nature and the great outdoors, which was something I had not had access too growing up, and which has been the ultimate equaliser.
Today holds a special place in my heart. I could never have imagined, all those years ago when I was finding my footing in life, that I would one day be travelling across the country, sharing my story to help others.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone, especially Lesley and Hugh, for believing in me and my vision to raise awareness of mental well-being for the future generations.
