Unveiling the Power of Mental Wellness: A Journey of Empowerment for Future Generations
My school tour kicked off on Monday September 16th, and I was a mix of excitement and nerves. This tour is all about diving into mental well-being and self-awareness, something I’m very passionate about for our future generations.
I started at my old school, Braeview Academy. It’s a place full of great memories with friends and amazing teachers. I was there to talk about eating disorders, anxiety, body positivity, and self-esteem, hoping to give young minds some insight as they navigate the tricky waters of adolescence.
As the week went on, we had some really important discussions at St. Paul’s Academy RC. Having my sponsors there was fantastic—they got to see the impact of these conversations on students, teachers, and parents. Their support means the world to me. Big thanks to Kilmac, Glenclova Hotel, McDonald Water Storage, Autosales of Kirriemuir, Dover Fueling Solutions, Amey, CR Smith, and of course, Clarkes Bakery for the delicious donuts. Special shoutout to RH Rutherford for the fab logo design.
Braeview Academy was a safe haven for me, but I know school can be tough for some kids, especially if they’re dealing with bullying. Meeting so many young people throughout the week was incredible—they showed me so much respect, attention, and kindness.
Our future generations are so important. If we can help them become healthy, happy, and empowered adults, that’s the greatest gift we can give. Every conversation and shared moment during this tour reinforced the idea that together, we can create a future where everyone thrives, and knows it OK to not be OK sometimes too, but there is help available when you need it.
I’ll leave you with a couple of messages I received this week that reminded me just how important this tour and these conversations are. Thank you so much.
"I was lucky enough to be one of the teachers who heard your presentation. You are a fantastic speaker and my pupils where engrossed in your story. Your doing such worthwhile work.
Tina McGuff you captivated us all. All the best for your tour."
A special wee thanks to DYW Taycities for all the help :)
